摘要(Abstract):
For anterior mediastinal masses in dogs and cats, imaging is the preferred method of examination. Advanced imaging helps evaluate the degree and extent of infiltration of anterior mediastinal masses into surrounding tissues, and aid in the formulation of treatment plans and prognosis. A dog with cough and asthma symptoms caused by an anterior mediastinal mass was admitted. Computed tomography(CT) scan showed that a fatty attenuated mass with poorly defined borders has infiltrated/invaded into the surrounding muscles and spine. Cytological examination suspected lipoma, and comprehensive results suspected invasive lipoma. Most of the structures of the mass were surgically removed, but the mass was tightly associated with the surrounding muscle and difficult to completely detach. Fortunately, the dog recovered well after surgery. Due to the popularity of advanced imaging, clinical reports of anterior mediastinal masses are increasing. The classical infiltrative lipoma images presented by anterior mediastinal masses allow their imaging diagnosis.
